The British Fashion Council has announced this season’s ten NEWGEN MEN support recipients. Sponsored by TOPMAN, the program provides recipients support to showcase their Spring 2017 collections at London Collections Men this June, whether it be a runway show, presentation, or installation. Recipients of continued support include Alex Mullins, Bobby Abley, Cottweiler, Craig Green, Diego Vanassibara, Liam Hodges, and PIETER. First time recipients include Kiko Kostadinov, Phoebe English, and Wales Bonner. Designers Agi & Sam, Astrid Anderson, and Nasir Mazhar become alumni of the program this year.
London has always been known for its celebration of emerging talent, and NEWGEN MEN is a key part of the innovative identity of London Collections Men. All ten of this season’s designers represent what is so special about British menswear in their own way, and I am eager to see their collections in the spotlight this June. The mentoring and support that NEWGEN MEN provides is invaluable, and watching the progress that it encourages is always exciting.
NEWGEN MEN, which was established in September 2009, also provides financial support and business mentoring to recipients. Past recipients include Christopher Raeburn, Christopher Shannon, and J.W. Anderson. NEWGEN MEN has been and continues to be in integral part of raising awareness of emerging British menswear designers. Check out this season’s recipients below.
