BURBERRY Mixes Art and Fashion

BY JULIA ASPHAR

Burberry has launched a new campaign that reflects both luxury fashion and a creative personality. The work combines the illustrations of British painter Luke Edward Hall and the portraits from photographer Mario Testino. The campaign pairs Hall’s whimsical artworks with Testino’s portraits, creating an interesting dynamic against the sophistication of the models.

Model Edie Campbell and actor Callum Turner are featured in the new campaign, showcasing the brand’s new menswear and womenswear collections, the first under one single Burberry entity after the merging of its three lines: Brit, London, and Prorsum. All pulled together in one brush stroke.

Luke is a great talent and it has been wonderful working and collaborating with him on our campaign, his beautiful illustrations next to Mario’s powerful photographs capture the artisanal spirit of the collection.

–Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative and Chief Executive Officer

That spirit is reflected in the short video which plays with the idea of fashion as art and art as fashion. The campaign brings life to the 2D artwork, almost as if the models and clothes were born from the sketches of Hall’s imagination.
