Cara Delevigne and Lily-Rose Depp Space Out for Chanel Fall 2017

Karl Lagerfeld himself goes behind the lens to photograph Chanel’s Fall 2017 ad campaign featuring Lily-Rose Depp and Cara Delevigne. Like many of their past campaigns, the fall 2017 ads are shot exclusively in black and white, even the colored shots contain only black and white clothing. This approach puts more emphasis on the textures, patterns, and shape rather than color. The clothes also have futuristic and space-themed qualities including the use of metallic material, studs and sequins, and even astronauts printed on the shirts and hoodies. The combination of futuristic features presented in Chanel’s classic black and white technique shows the brand’s marriage of being a longstanding, respected fashion label with their dedication to that keeping that title going forward.

If there’s one person in the Chanel family who knows all about the future and space, it’s Cara Delevigne, the star of recently released sci-fi film, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” Delevigne recently took a break from the modeling industry to pursue her acting career, but for this campaign she returns to Chanel, who she first began working with in 2012.

Lily-Rose Depp is another Chanel favorite, first modelling for the French fashion house in 2015 for their eyewear campaign photographed again by Karl Lagerfeld. Her partnership with Chanel gained popularity in 2016 when Depp was the face of the #YouKnowMeAndYouDont campaign for Chanel’s N°5 L’EAU fragrance.
