On the eve of his December Métiers d’art show in Austria, Karl Lagerfeld has released his latest fashion film featuring British supermodel Cara Delevingne singing a duet with hitmaker Pharrell Williams.
The film entitled “Reincarnation” is directed by Karl and traces the history of the iconic Chanel jacket. While holidaying in 1954 Salzburg Austria, Gabrielle Chanel (played by Geraldine Chaplin) is inspired by the jacket worn by her hotel’s elevator operator (Pharrell Williams). Karl adds a twist as Pharrell’s character is imagined as the reincarnated version of Franz Joseph I, the Emperor of Austria, while Cara Delevingne plays his wife, Empress Elisabeth “Sisi” of Austria.
In an nod to double entendre, “SiSi” becomes “CC” as in Coco Chanel, and the inspiration to “CC The World”, the original composition and lyrics from Pharrell who performs a duet with a surprisingly talented Cara Delevingne. Both Pharrell and Cara will be the faces of the upcoming campaign of the Paris‑Salzburg 2014/15 Métiers d’Art collection to be shown tomorrow at Hotel Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria.
Should the video be any indication, The Impressionist anticipates a collection with more than a nod toward the von Trapp family. SiSi lederhosen anyone?
