Seoul Hosts Chanel’s Mademoiselle Privé Exhibition

BY IVANNIA MORTON

After a successful exhibit in London back in 2015, Chanel re-opened their Mademoiselle Privé exhibition in Seoul. The show unfolds the roots of the brand, the impact of Gabrielle Chanel, and Karl Lagerfeld’s continued creative direction. Seoul has emerged as an Asian fashion capital, thus making it the perfect location for Chanel’s moving exhibit.

From walls covered in fashion illustrations, to a room full of portraits featuring Chanel brand ambassador’s and muses; the surprises were never ending. Paying tribute to Gabrielle and the brands origins, there is a hat room honoring the time where she exclusively made hats. There’s also a room dedicated to the Chanel No.5 perfume, which is much deserved due to its iconic history. The D museum hosting the exhibit will also have workshop sessions on Lesage, Lemarié, high jewelry, and a learning experience about Chanel No.5.

The exhibit’s opening was celebrated with a star studded party the night prior. South Korean superstars G-Dragon, CL, Taeyang, and Park Shin Hye were among the many in attendance. Following the show, Chanel hosted an after party featuring a private DJ set by model Soo Joo Park, and concert by rapper G-Dragon to top off the night. Being that G-Dragon is a brand ambassador for Chanel, it was no surprise he stole the show with his eclectic ensemble and electrifying performance.
