Christopher Kane Fall 2017 Ad Campaign
For his Fall 2017 ad campaign entitled ‘Craft and Work,’ designer Christopher Kane teamed with art director Jo-Ann Furniss and lensman Alasdair McLellan to blend natural with industrial beauty.
We were looking at an aesthetic that is quite brutal and beautiful this season. We really wanted an idea of a heroine from the factory floor, like the women who craft and have always crafted the incredible historical fabrics found in the collection. We wanted Cara to evoke that spirit; she’s young, fearless, an ordinary girl from Alabama, but at the same time an extraordinary girl. She personifies that attitude of the Christopher Kane girl, something quite indomitable.
Model Cara Taylor plays the idiosyncratic working class heroine in the campaign inspired by portraiture of Viv Nicholson in the industrial settings of the North of England.
