Roberto Cavalli goes Celebrity for Fall Ad Campaign

Looks like Peter Dundas wanted to go viral with his first ad campaign since being back at the Cavalli house, bringing in American hip-hop artist Ciara to represent the new collection. To do so, he has enlisted photographer Francesco Carrozzini and stylist Robert Rabensteiner.
Like Nicki Minaj’s hit song Starships says, “Let’s go to the beach!” That is the feel of the new Roberto Cavalli ad campaign. Sand filling the floor, creating golden sand dunes in a small, aqua-green room, creates a surreal-looking atmosphere resembling a cloudy day at the beach. It encapsulates a whole story in one room, and has the singer posing on top of the sand dunes, lounging on wealthy, detailed chairs, or just leaning up against the doorway. Wearing designs including embroidered dresses flowing to the floor and pantsuits displaying printed silks, the scenery highlights the details of Cavalli’s fabrics and their different colors and prints.
The campaign is a bit of a nod to the work of Tim Walker, who lensed Agyness Deyn for British Vogue’s May 2011 issue. But we all need to find inspiration somewhere and Peter has evolved the idea to embrace a fresh and surreal point of view.
