Store Scout, COS Olympic Theatre
BY STEPHANIE PETTWAY
COS has opened yet another store in Los Angeles, however, what makes this opening special is that it will be located in the iconic Olympic Theatre on West 8th Street in Downtown Los Angeles. This will make it the brand’s third store to open within LA and the fourth in the state of California.
The building has built in 1927 and was formerly named the Bard’s Eighth Street Theatre before being renamed the Olympic Theatre in 1932 to commemorate the Los Angeles hosting of the Olympics that same year. The vertical Olympic sign remains outside, which keeps the famous character of the building, while the rest is completely renovated and repurposed for the new store.
COS’s use of timeless designs and clean silhouettes continues with the opening of this store. Throughout, clothes range in a variety of colors, such as earth tones, pastels, and shades of gray. These colors can be seen on a variety of shirts and polos to different types of pants seen in the store.
Since the brand’s launch in 2007, they have been strategic about where they open their stores, therefore opening at this historic location is nothing less than expected from the brand.
LA has always been a city of huge importance to the COS brand, and the architecture, art and design scene here are all points of inspiration for our creative team.
