COS and Studio Swine opened New Spring, Miami, an interactive installation presented at the Temple House, during Miami Art Basel. The artwork consisted of a central sculpture that emitted mist-filled blossoms. The piece, second in the New Spring series, was conceived for COS’ 6th Milan Design Week presentation, during Salon del Mobile 2017.

“We wanted to encapsulate a lifespan of emotions in an instant. To create a multi-sensory experience that was fleeting, but in its time evokes joy and vitality, if only to remain as a memory. New Spring, Miami couples this ideal with the environment it inhabits; energized by the inspiration the city and its remarkable style has given us.” – Studio Swine

The responsive piece of art is 8 meters tall by 8 meters wide and has 42 buds that produce white scent filled bubbles. The five scents where inspired by Florida and its flora. The full sensory experience was then completed by providing guests with black gloves, to balance the bubbles in their hands, before bursting open with fragrance.
