We spoke briefly with TREY LAIRD of Laird+Partners regarding the latest DAVID WEBB fall 2016 ad campaign lensed by INEZ & VINOODH.

Trey, thanks for bringing us in on the thinking around the latest David Webb campaign. Know jewelry can be a different animal. What can you tell us?
We started taking David Webb in a new direction lat year with Inez & Vinoodh. It was really just trying to capture him in such bold jewelry, very iconic bold jewelry. It’s not this little delicate sort of invisible dainty thing.
And so, we started shooting a series of very strong women and very strong portraiture that capture that sort of power. So this is the second series of it and it has this tagline ‘Boldly Created, Boldly Worn.’ And so Inez & Vinoodh did it again and their four new women, they complete the new series. All sort of very, very strong, I think the images, and representing different parts of the collection, the David Webb world.
Are there other elements beyond the images?
Yes, there are other layers to it. There’s short digital films we’re working now on contents. We are going through their archives because I think people don’t realize how rich the David Webb world is. He started in 1948 and has dressed so many powerful and fashionable people.
How does this sit in the market?
We’re really just trying to do something striking and bold. And I think so many times in the fine jewelry world, there’s something very romantic or delicate or sweet or pretty or that kind of thing. But I think David Webb’s jewelry was always bold. And so, I think that’s what we really try to do and Inez & Vinoodh have really brought that to life in such a powerful way.
