Since 1980, David Yurman has been more than a jewelry company. David and Sybil Yurman set out on a mission to enhance life’s moments through its luxury jewelry brand. Since launching in New York, the brand has expanded to over 350 locations worldwide due to its well-crafted, unconventional jewelry that encapsulates American luxury.
The new David Yurman Spring 2017 advertising campaign is a reflection of one’s idea of American luxury. Photographed by Bruce Weber in the Florida Keys, the campaign stars Natalia Vodianova and Taylor Hill, a newcomer to the brand, at a relaxing vacation home, lounging on the front porch wearing stacked David Yurman jewelry.
David Yurman prefers to highlight its jewelry in everyday life rather than in still life imagery, which helps the viewer better understand the jewelry and how it will fit in their wardrobe. The campaign also stages a relatable set that could read better among consumers, namely millennials who are believed to be opposed to buying jewelry, especially diamonds.
Natalia resembles the mature woman that embarks on a family vacation every year, while Taylor appears quite like the young professional escaping the city with friends for an Airbnb getaway. In addition, the backdrop is not a lavish mansion, but rather a humble abode where lasting memories are made.
It is never about a piece of jewelry, it is about a lifestyle that in many ways mirror how David and I live in terms of our artistic sensibilities.
The American luxury lifestyle is not about living an expensive life in a bubble, aloof of the world, but rather the ability to live freely and have time explore the country and world around them. That freedom exhibited in the American luxury lifestyle is the ethos of David Yurman.
