The Store Scout | ENFÖLD West Village
BY MARISSA TORSIELLO
Japanese retailer Enfold has opened a new store in New York City in the heart of the West Village on Bleeker Street.
We are pleased to open our first Enföld flagship store in New York, the very first in the U.S. It is a huge privilege to be able to expand into a new market, and we hope that people will enjoy exploring and shopping the brand.
Owned by parent company Baroque who also owns Moussy, Enföld is a women’s ready-to-wear brand founded and launched in Tokyo in 2012, and is currently being sold in over 50 locations around the world. The clothing gently wraps around and embraces the wearer, emphasizing the name Enföld. Their main efforts are to create a style and genre of “relaxed elegance”, fashion without the excessive formality.
Bohlin Cywinski Jackson architect group designed the stores 950 square feet of retail space, consisting of a combination of brick and clean white walls and dark hardwood floors providing marble fixtures for clothing and accessories to be displayed. Satoshi Kawamoto, the creative director and plant artist behind Green Fingers designed the lush greenery presented at the storefront. A beautiful blend of unique plants such as cactus, calathea, succulents, bare branches and wood stumps are scattered around the clothing and accessories creating a relaxing environment and tranquil in-store experience.
