Erdem and H&M Explore the Beauty of Spring in Film Directed by Baz Luhrmann

BY STEPHANIE PETTWAY

Spring, the celebration of beauty and growth, is the season of choice for director Baz Luhrmann’s fashion film, “The Secret Life of Flowers” for Erdem and H&M’s capsule collection.

Treating the short film like a full movie containing all of the drama, passion, and liveliness, Luhrmann takes viewers on a journey of wonderment and escapism in just 4 minutes. Actors Tom Rhys Harries, and Hero Fiennes Tiffin find themselves at Reddham Garden’s, a mysterious, private, and flower filled mansion owned by Lady Demare, the matriarch-like character played by Harriet Walter. Here, she creates a place of freedom, spontaneity and temptation, through the gathering of young and beautiful people, which include models Fernando Cabral, Grace Hartzel, Imaan Hammam, Luca Lemaire, Neels Visser, Saskia de Brauw, and Tony Ward. With this atmosphere, love ensues when Ruby Dagnall comes into the picture.

“I wanted the film to be like a whole movie. It’s a very modern love story, set in a country house that is full of its own secrets and it’s like a metaphor for our times – it’s harsh out there in the world, but in here, the things that really matter keep growing in an eternal spring,” says Luhrmann.

By the use of the exclusive new song “Hypnotised” by Years & Years, the ideas of love, friendship, and positivity are propeled, while the clothes from the collection further the narrative and define the characters through Erdem’s recognizable floral designs.
