The Woolmark Company and Ambassador Jason Wu Partner on a Wool Capsule Collection That Makes a Case for Wearing Wool in the Summertime

Linen is to summer as wool is to winter. The analogy would be best suited for the SATs if that section were still part of the exam, and the analogy is now false thanks to The Woolmark Company and Jason Wu. For his Spring 2017, the New York City-based designer developed Woolmark-certified knitwear pieces that “further explore and develop wool for summer.” Wu and Woolmark also launched a campaign to support the wool capsule collection.
Photographer Laurence Ellis shot the campaign that spotlights Wu’s sophisticated wool pieces that utilize Woolmark’s Cool Wool fabric. The backdrop of the photos hangs on a chain link fence so as to display the versatility of Wu’s Soft Wool Mesh Day Dress and Merino Silk Knit Day Dress. The wool capsule is not out of place in the metropolitan environment or on the beach.
According to the Taiwanese-Canadian designer, “Merino has always played an integral role in my designs and CoolWool innovation has allowed my Spring 17 collection to push the boundaries with conventional seasons, creating year-round luxurious pieces.”
Woolmark continues to push the boundaries of wool and introduce new fabrics made possible through innovative technologies and processes. Partnering on this collection with Jason Wu, who is an ambassador to The Woolmark Company, allows for the new fabrics to be showcased in fully functional, artistic pieces that are timeless and seasonless. Cotton has some competition; wool may be the new four-season fabric.
