The Store Scout | JIMMY CHOO Soho

BY KENNETH RICHARD

In yet another step to grow their lifestyle brand, Jimmy Choo has opened a downtown New York boutique in Soho at 111 Greene Street. And if that step wasn’t enough the house is taking another with a newly relocated uptown flagship store on Madison Avenue scheduled to open in a few months.

New York has always been a very important market as it served as our first US retail location back in 1998. This year marks the brand’s 20th anniversary, and the opening of these two stores play an important role in serving the city’s dynamic clientele. With locations both uptown and downtown, we are able to speak to a wider audience and cater to both New Yorkers and visitors alike.

- Pierre Denis, CEO

The Greene Street Soho store was concepted by London based David Collins Studio and reinterpreted by Christian Lahoude Studio, New York. The 1,325 square feet boutique’s exterior reflects Soho’s industrial heritage with a façade of glass and riveted industrial steel.

To keep with Soho’s artistic character, the boutique showcases an anamorphic art work by artist, Fabien Illiou playing with the brand’s signature strappy sandal. The store includes a dedicated exhibition space at the back comprising a sunken glass mezzanine and gallery wall, which will be used as a canvas to house art installations and creative collaborations.

Detailing such as Italian marble finishes and gold ceiling ornamentation contrast against utilitarian polished grey concrete flooring. Custom designed furniture including mohair and suede seating finished with brass and satin frames and hand-made rugs.

The store adds to Jimmy Choo’s global network of more than 140 stores as well as to top line sales. Which can only help the publicly listed organization on the London Stock Exchange, as well as all those downtown who are looking to add a little CHOO to their own portfolio.
