Kenzo’s “Cabiria, Charity, Chastity” Fashion Film to Premiere This September

BY BRENNA O’DONNELL

Kenzo does advertising for their collections a bit differently than most; for starters their last 5 major campaigns have manifested as celebrity-heavy fashion films paired with print advertising acting as movie posters for said film. Recently Kenzo announced that their newest movie “Cabiria, Charity, Chastity” will premiere this September on kenzo.com and will promote the Fall 2017 line.

Cabiria, Charity, Chastity is set to feature appearances by Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, Macaulay Culkin, Matt Lucas, James Ransone, Greta Lee, Waris Ahluwalia, and Leslie Odom Jr. Maya Rudolph will play Chastity, who must reconcile her Vaudevillian past in order to face her future.

The film will be directed by actress Natasha Lyonne, known for her roles in Orange is the New Black, and American Pie, however Lyonne also starred in Kenzo’s previous fashion film, “The Realest Real.” Past Kenzo film directors include Kahlil Joseph, who directed Beyoncé’s visual album Lemonade, and Carrie Brownstein, writer and star of Portlandia.

Under Creative Directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, Kenzo has branched into the film arena to create a new vessel for their brand. Having their advertising in the form of a movie with professional actors and directors on board creates an audience anticipation like no other, attracting film buffs and fashion fans alike.
