Loewe has begun taking submissions for the second edition of its successful Loewe Craft Prize. Submissions are being accepted through October 17, 2017.

Creative Director Jonathan Anderson launched the annual prize with The Loewe Foundation in 2016 to showcase the work of artisans in craft-based professions. The competition is open to any professional artisan over the age of 18, and to be considered, their submitted work must have been created within the last 5 years, must be an original concept, and have an innovative application.

Close to 4,000 works were submitted for the first Craft Prize. The winner, Tree of Life 2 by Ernst Gamperl of Germany, is featured in a traveling exhibition currently on view in New York.

A panel of experts will shortlist the submissions to 30 finalists based on originality, clear artistic vision, merit, precise execution, material excellence, innovative value, and distinct authorial mark. A jury comprised of Anderson, Gamperl, Loewe Foundation founder and Honorary President Enrique Loewe and others will select this year’s winning work.

The winner of the Loewe Craft Prize 2018 will be announced in London in May 2018.
