Marni Creates feathery friends for new charity project, MARNI HAPPY BIRDS
BY BRITTANY EGER
Marni is using its design talents for something greater with the launch of MARNI HAPPY BIRDS, a project featuring hand-painted wooden and metal birds, that give back to children’s charities.
Each colorful bird is made in partnership with Colombian craftsmen, inspired by the world of art. Some of the greatest female artists of the last century: Carol Rama, Frida Kahlo, Georgia O’Keefe, Alice Neel and Louise Bourgeois, are each represented by a specific bird design in the project.
As these feathery creations are sold, the proceeds will be donated to the Vimala Association, supporting children in the refugee camps of India. Marni challenges the fashion industry to give back with this unique project. We hope that this is a fashion trend other designers pick up on.
