McQ merges art and attitude via their latest collaboration with artist JESSE DRAXLER

Alexander McQueen was no stranger to artist collaborations so it is only fitting that the brands McQ collection partner with renowned collage artist Jesse Draxler to promote their new Swallow Collection for pre-fall.

The collection was inspired by the swallow print which was first seen in Lee Alexander McQueen’s iconic 1995 show, ‘The Birds.’ Today artist, Tom Tosseyn has reimagined the bird for the house to stamped across clothing in gothic typeface and visceral language.

For the pre-fall campaign McQ teamed up with Jesse Draxler who is known for dark sensibilities often working in black and white while drawing viewers in with gothic themes. Draxler has a provocative command, knowing how to add drama to photography via collaging organic shapes with acute angles.

The work is a reminder of the power of merging fashion and art. A strategy more houses should incorporate into their work if they really want it to take flight.
