The Store Scout | MICHAEL KORS Seoul, Korea – Cheongdam & Garousu-Gil

Michael Kors has opened not one, but two stores, both located in Seoul, Korea. The store in Cheongdam is a flagship and the location in Garousu-Gil is the first lifestyle store to come to the country. Both of these openings will continue the path of success that Michael Kors has found within South Korea.
We’ve had a strong reception in Seoul, which makes the opening of this flagship a particularly exciting step for the brand. South Korea is a key market for Michael Kors and I’m confident that the more we share of the brand’s depth and breadth, the more it will grow.
The new flagship replaces the brand’s previous store in Cheongdam, which has been expanded from 1,700 to almost 5,000 square feet, and is now two floors, including a full floor dedicated to the renowned runway label Michael Kors Collection. The store will have a shimmering façade inspired by Michael Kors’ signature use of metallic and texture. The façade is one of the brand’s defining architectural elements, made up of luminous screens of light-reflective facets set within a grid of internally lit recesses. A large-scale video screen on the lower level will feature the brand’s seasonal imagery.
A number of exclusive rooms will display women’s ready-to-wear, arranged by trend, so customers can browse, consult with the store’s stylists, and try on looks in an environment of relaxation and indulgence, providing a more personal shopping experience.
Michael Kors took a more casual-chic aesthetic in designing the lifestyle store in Garosu-Gil. The 2,540-square-foot store, located in the youthful and energetic area of Seoul, will carry a mix of accessories from MICHAEL Michael Kors as well as women’s ready-to-wear. Using elements like zebra-print furniture, lustrous metal fixtures, mirrored surfaces and glossy, vintage photographs evoke a sense of glamour and sophistication.
Both locations exhibit how successful Michael Kors is as a national brand and their ability to provide their latest collections to different countries with ease.
