Store Scout – Miss Sixty Milan Flagship
BY GILLIAN CASTRO
Miss Sixty opened their first flagship store in Milan, overlooking Piazza Duomo. The new location is laid out over 4 floors and covers a total of 750-square-meters.
The ground floor and the basement floor hold the Miss Sixty collections including Collection, Denim Grid, and Young. The mezzanine floor is a transformable space, which will be used to feature different Miss Sixty installations and cross-cutting events.
The first floor houses the Miss Sixty Caffe, managed by “Dal Bolognese,” which is open to both store clients and visitors.
The store was designed by CLS Architects and Massimiliano Locatelli. The concept is based on two elements, the “skin” of the room and the “trace”. The skin is developed to be constantly changed while the trace represents the roots and identity of the brand.
The walls of the store have printed magnetic coatings, which make it possible to imprint different signs and shapes, be used for artistic performances, and allow scenography changes. The cement resin floors are covered by handmade silk carpets. The ceilings of the ground floor and first floor feature chandeliers composed of overlapped cotissi Murano glass sheets.
The staircase leads to the basement floor where the gallery of skylights recreates Milan’s settings with projections and screens used to reproduce the weather of the city. The two store windows show a constantly evolving story in which the people passing can send their photos and see themselves recreated.
