The Store Scout | MONCLER Seoul
BY CHELSEA MONTANI
Moncler has opened their first Flagship Store in Cheongdam-dong, one of Seoul’s most reputable shopping destinations. The brand worked with long-time collaborators, Parsian architects, Gilles & Boissier, who designed yet another creative project.
The cozy and contemporary boutique is located right in the center of the most influential shopping street in East Asia, occupying 400-square-meters and two floors, correlating perfectly with other Moncler Flagship Stores located around the world.
The new boutique has an interior and exterior made of black and white marble with pointillist pencil murals displayed on the walls created by French graphic designer Alix Waline’s to compliment the brand’s creativity and originality. Other display areas were also embellished by more works of Waline. He drew inspiration from old museums, buildings and sites in Seoul that he visited during his time in the South Korean capitol. Moncler will also be displaying the work of Eva Jospin, the Daughter of ex-French Prime Minister, inside the boutique’s “Foret”. The work is dedicated to the “forest,” which correlates with the store’s “haute montagne” (high mountain) style perfectly.
Moncler decided to launch the new store concept, characterized by art and design, in South Korea’s capitol due to the countless international tourists who flock to the famous shopping street and the prestigious clientele.
The brand’s new Flagship store carries the Moncler Gamme Rouge and the Moncler Gamme Bleu lines in addition to the Moncler and Moncler Grenoble collections for him and her, accessories, Moncler Enfant and other specialty items from the brand.
In celebration of the opening, Moncler is launching the world premiere of the new Moncler “O” S/S 2017 collection, along with the limited edition jacket, created for the Seoul boutique in collaboration with OFF-WHITE C / O VIRGIL ABLOH™ collection. The jacket will become available for purchase exclusively at the Seoul Moncler location come Spring/Summer 2017, with a limited supply of 50 for purchase.
