The Prada “Inside” bag takes you to another world

Since Prada’s Inside Bag hit the stores in July the two-in-one bag has become an iconic hit for the house. For holiday Prada has partnered with longtime collaborator, director James Lima, releasing a series of surreal animated shorts entitled Inside Me.

Taking a ‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty‘ approach, the shorts, which were released one per day this week, are vignettes of an imaginative life transformed by opening the bag. The first, The Swimmer, finds our heroine unzipping the bag to go swimming nude in an underwater urban oasis surrounded by tropical fish. In ‘A Space Between‘ our heroine is able to push skyscrapers apart, à la Inception, to reveal a tranquil countryside.

Lima, who began his work with Prada in 2008 with Trembled Blossoms, has a sophisticated and colorful hand and imaginatively interprets the house in a way that feels fresh and embraceable. The Impression is fans of his sophisticated and punchy work for the likes of Alexander Wang, Louis Vuitton and Versace to name a few.

The overall feeling is upbeat, mysterious, warm and layered. Much like the bag itself, letting us know it is what is on the inside that counts.
