In a centennial celebration of Salvatore Ferragamo’s 1914 risk taking venture at the tender age of 16 from Italy to Boston, the firm has launched a A Man’s Story film series.

While many know the house of Ferragamo as an Italian brand, a good deal of it’s heritage lies in the US where Salvatore worked briefly with his brother at cowboy boot factory in Boston before deciding to ‘go west young man’ and open a custom footwear business in Los Angeles where he worked for 13 years before returning to Italy. In celebration of that venturous spirit the house has partnered with filmmaker Francesco Carrozzini to profile a few of today’s young manly risk takers including music artist A$AP Rocky, British actor Douglas Booth, Swedish ice hockey player Henrik Lundqvist, artist and photographer Ryan McGinley, auction house founder Alexander Gilkes, French designer and entrepreneur Louis-Marie De Castelbajac, and art consultant Tyrone Wood.

From A$AP Rocky to Ryan McGinley what links these young men is their single-minded approach to life. They’ve not been afraid to make their own rules, even when it’s meant potential failure. That’s what makes them so inspiring, and the stories they’ve shared with us so compelling.
