The Store Scout – Saturdays Surf NYC
The Surf Brand Opens its Second Store in Australia in Melbourne
BY OBI ANYANWU
Where there are raising tides and tall waves, you’ll be sure to find Saturdays Surf NYC Co-founders Colin Tunstall, Morgan Collett and Josh Rosen nearby, even if it’s out of the country. The trio opened the first Saturdays Surf NYC store in Australia at Bondi Beach in Sydney in 2015, and now the New York City-based brand has a second location in Melbourne at.
The 800-square-foot store is a surf haven much like the brand’s first-ever store in New York City. Akin Creative was tapped by Saturdays to design the interior that features white timber, concrete materials and wooden floors that are inspired by a modernism gallery space in the mid 20th century. In store, the surf brand offers a wide array of products including eyewear and accessories, apparel, grooming products, magazines and, of course, surfboards.
The new store may be deep in the bustling city, but it is only a few miles away from the Port Melbourne Beach at Beach Street. Most surfers will tell you that the best way to start your day is by riding a few waves, but what better way is there to keep the rush going than to unwind at the Saturdays Surf NYC store?
To date, the brand operates eight retail locations in the US, Japan and Australia.
