The Store Scout, Thom Browne Milan

BY NICOLE REIMAN

Thom Browne opens his first freestanding store in Europe, in Milan on Via Gesù, also known as the “men’s street,” marking exciting new steps for the brand. The 1300 sq ft store features both women’s and men’s ready-to-wear pieces and accessories, as well as made-to-measure and eveningwear selections.

The Italian interior design firm ASA Studioalbanese led by Flavio Ablanese, realized Browne’s design concept, where he drew his inspiration for the five-room store off of office interiors from the late 50’s and early 60’s. The store features sleek  grey Bardiglio marble walls, Terrazzo floors, Browne’s signature window blinds, and mid-century furniture that make it feel as if you are walking into a luxury penthouse apartment. Since many of his collections are produced in Milan, Browne has a special connection with the city, after visiting it for about fifteen years. He designed the interior of the store to reflect the overall quality and craftsmanship of Milan, while featuring influences from American culture. Shoppers are sure to feel the sophistication of the designs, and have a personal experience while visiting.
