THE TOP WOMEN’S MODELS OF 2016 | THE IMPRESSION AWARDS

BY KENNETH RICHARD

Yes it is true that models were genetically gifted their ‘talent’ but the same can be said for singers, athletes, and even academics. It is not having the talent that is of interest, it is honing that talent and putting it to constructive use that separates good from great.

As we look back at 2016 a few stars came into their own in the modeling world. Hailing from Brescia, Italy, model Vittoria Ceretti rose to be one of the most in demand catwalkers striding for the likes of Dior, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Valentino, Sacai, Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, and more during the Spring 2017 fashion month. She also found her way into the iconic 10 campaign by Steven Meisel and Fabien Baron for Ralph Lauren as well as her landing an Italian Vogue cover to bring it all home.

Model Ruth Bell came of prominence in 2015 after her hair met a pair of clippers. After suddenly finding herself a favorite of Hedi Slimane, who photographed her for his last Saint Laurent ad campaign, the model strode into 2016 championing the runway for the likes of Burberry, Michael Kors, and this past season being cast as an exclusive by Maria Grazia Chiuri for her Dior debut. Her baby chick meets razors edge style has given her editorial range from i-D to Vogue and we look forward to her 2017, which she kicked off with the spring Dior campaign.

After sending a Polaroid to Buenos Aires agency LO, Argentina born Mica Arganaraz found herself on fashion’s fast track and over the course of the past few years her runway mileage ranks her in the top 1%. This past season she walked for the likes of Tom Ford, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Alexander McQueen, and others. What caught The Impression’s eye was her ‘flow’ in Trey Laird and Nick Knight’s video for Tom Ford. Mica has the moves, be it striding the runways or a Soul Train tunnel. Her relaxed 70’s style beauty waves of hair have caught the attention of Karl Lagerfeld, who cast her rightfully in his Cuban inspired cruise campaign for Chanel. Having also done campaigns for Coach, Tom Ford, and Tiffany we look forward to her 2017.

Each of these talents did the leg work, literally, to rise to the top of their fields, but as important is their level of professionalism, which has garnered each a reputation for being on time, on point, and game. Here is to their continued championship season.
