The social sphere was all aflutter yesterday in anticipation of who will be walking the upcoming Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as models started to confirm via their Instagram and Twitter accounts that they had indeed been cast.
The Victoria Secret Fashion Show hops the pond to London for the first time and will air on CBS, Tuesday, Dec. 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT). The show, as we all know, has turned the runway formula upside down and become a ticket to international awareness for many a model. As it turns out, strutting down a runway with barely there underwear on international television is the gateway to breaking out of only being known in fashion circles and models know it. Plus it helps that the show is broadcast in over 200 countries.
The team at Victoria’s Secret confirmed their world famous Victoria’s Secret Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Doutzen Kroes, Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Behati Prinsloo, Karlie Kloss and Lindsay Ellingson will be a part of the show when they announced it. However the balance of the cast was not announced providing passionate model fans something to chat about. Vegas could actually make money here.
Over the course of the last two days the secret is out. Be it part of VS’s strategy or not, and we’d like to think it is, models have gone to social and announced their confirmation which raises the question of how to keep a secret in the digital age. Or better yet, how not to. As the social reach of these models with fanboys and fangirls is likely larger than any press release results could add up to.
Meanwhile we are glad Victoria Secret & President/CMO Edward G. Razek who is producing, has taken the show on the road to remind others (yep, talking to you Yamamay, Intimissimi, and Etam) that they are the originators. Where Angels Dare.
