Vivienne Westwood Designs a Penthouse for The London West Hollywood
By Kenneth Richard | The Impressionist
British doyenne of punk fashion, Vivienne Westwood, has partnered with Richmond Design to create the largest luxury hotel suite in Los Angeles.
The suite, part of The London West Hollywood Hotel’s $25 million renovation, is an 11,000 square-foot penthouse spread across two levels. Scheduled for completion by mid May, the penthouse can accommodate 300 guests and includes a full kitchen, marble bathrooms and exclusive access to a 5,000-square-foot rooftop terrace.
The tab for the spacious suite with Westwood’s touch will be a mere $25,000 a night. That touch includes designed items throughout, including cushions, scarves, tiles, prints, and tapestries, many of which were made in collaboration with Richmond Design.
We were initially approached by The London West Hollywood to add inspiration to the penthouse with our prints and graphics. We have specially curated rugs, wall-hangings and soft furnishings to bring a subtle element of our brand to the luxury apartment. […] It’s really exciting to see our designs translated into an interior space.
Although Westwood is known for outrageous riffs on historical costumes with a punk signature, the suite reflects a modern Californian sensibility with sleek white lounges, mirror-backed bookcases and pale blue and teal tones.
The collaboration with Richmond design incorporates her iconic squiggle, Union Jack and tartan patterns into custom-woven rugs, pillows and tapestries. Scarves selected from 30 years of Westwood collections are framed and displayed throughout the 6,000-square-foot suite.
The suite comes with the additional exclusive perks such as a one-hour private shopping session at the Vivienne Westwood store in West Hollywood, a discount on purchases and his and her giftbags upon check-in.
