Store Scout, ATM – Anthony Thomas Melillo East Hampton
ATM opens its second retail location in East Hampton on Newtown Lane, where the brand operated a successful pop up in 2016

Depending on who you speak to, the Summer season begins in May. Memorial Day Weekend has emerged as the unofficial start to the Summer, with beaches opening to the public in that three-day span and with ‘Summer Fridays’ beginning on or after that weekend.
Memorial Day Weekend also marks the seasonal opening of several shops on Newtown Lane in East Hampton. Designer Anthony Thomas Melillo felt that weekend was the most opportune time to open ATM’s first permanent retail location in the area.
The beach is home for me and my family and I really love the cozy, local feeling. I want to make sure the store is part of the community, just like Bostwick’s is for an early Sunday dinner with the family, ATM should be a go-to in East Hampton. The brand’s laid-back yet refined aesthetic lends itself so well to the lifestyle.
The new store that is located at 20 Newtown Lane is a follow up to the brand’s East Hampton pop up in 2016. The pop up served as the contemporary fashion brand’s first standalone retail location and an educational experience that led to the opening of the brand’s first permanent store on Bleecker Street in New York City’s West Village neighborhood.
The 1,200-square-foot East Hampton boutique stays true to the label’s relaxed, elegant DNA and heritage, with a minimal interior that reflects the skeleton of an unfinished home. Inside, customers will find custom-built bay windows and bench seats with black cushions, furniture designed by Melillo himself, including a recycled black denim sofa and white oak framed mirrors, and custom display racks crafted from powdered blackened steel and cement.
What sets the East Hampton store apart from the Bleecker Street location is the mannequin installation in the center of the space. A staggered line of 30 mannequins is located in the center of the store and showcase ATM’s signature t-shirts and seasonal outfits.
A curated selection of ATM’s Pre-Fall 2017 collection is also available in store, in addition to the brand’s first footwear collection, which consists of slip on and lace-up styles for men and women. The new footwear line is displayed on a large lattice-like wooden installation that is also borrowed from the Bleecker Street store.
Whether you feel the Summer is upon us or you’re waiting for the Solstice on June 21, the season feels like it’s here with the new ATM store.
