Teams with Cara Delevingne On Handbag Line & Campaign
Balmain Creative Director Olivier Rousteing is a champion of technology so it should come as no surprise that the designer has lead the house to be the first to leverage interactive films in the marketing of its latest collaboration with model-actress-musician Cara Delevingne.
The collection behind the communication is the result of Delevingne teaming with Rousteing on the design of three of the brand’s Fall 2019’s It bags: the BBag, the Romeo, and the Twist.
Cara is the star because it’s to everyone that she is the embodiment of the Balmain rebelle—the self-assured troublemaker with an invigorating, new type of rebellious spirit. Cara reflects the strong and confident attitude of the women of my generation, women who are not content to simply push back—instead, they revel in pushing forward (while making sure to push every single button along the way).

But while many would reply simply on the power of social influence and PR to push buttons, Rousteing and Delevingne created an interactive series of films entitled ‘The Choice’ which allows viewers to make a series of distinct choices for Delevingne each time she is faced with making a decision in the scene. The films involve everything from stolen gems to brass knuckles and lead to six different outcomes.
The films are cinematic, stylish, and meant to be engaged on Balmain’s website ultimately leading to longer use time on their site which will hopefully translate to strong sales for the collection. The Impression loves a good who-done-it and can’t wait for the results to be revealed. Meanwhile, we believe Rousteing is once again ahead of the curve and love his choices.
