Wet waves, knotted plaits and elegant variations on the slicked-back pony dominated Spring 2020 runways from Gabriela Hearst to Proenza Shouler. The timeless art of braiding was elevated to a sculptural level at Yohji Yamamoto and Alexander McQueen with asymmetrical knots and twists. Coifs of hair with applications of paste-like color, flowers and wire at Moschino and Marni, and headpieces with bows and ruffles carried this sculptural look to striking and colorful conclusion at Pam Hogg, Thom Browne and Antonio Marras.
