Review of Birkenstock X Proenza Schouler Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Photographer Collier Schorr with King Princess
Birkenstock and Proenza Schouler celebrate their continued collaboration with a new campaign for Fall 2021. Photographer Collier Schorr captures musician King Princess in a series of understated and expressive portraits.
The new unisex capsule collection expands on the collaboration’s original designs through experimentation with color. United by their common appreciation for form and functionality, the collection is inspired by a combination of utilitarian workwear and athletic footwear. The collaboration showcases signature Proenza Schouler palettes with vibrant cobalt blue, rustic burgundy, and neutrals in black and ecru; a transitional color range intended to carry the wearer from late summer to early fall.
Birkenstock and Proenza Schouler both share a common respect and admiration for the craftsmanship and detailed work that is integral to all of our products. We are excited to pick-up where we left off and expand on the collection with fresh colorways that feel very in the moment and true to our brand.

Schorr captures King Princess in a minimalist space that may be a dance studio or backstage area, subtly suggesting a sense of openness and transitionality. Styled in a range of stripped-back, gender-fluid Proenza Schouler looks, the musician exudes an air of simultaneous vulnerability and confidence. Tapping into a spirit of liminal space, the imagery nicely captures the collection’s character as a functional, open-ended canvas for self-expression.
