Mark Howard Thomas Joins Helmut Lang as Menswear Creative Director
Helmut Lang has hired Mark Howard Thomas as their new Creative Director of Menswear. Thomas joins from Joseph, and his new job will include a move from London to New York City. Thomas’ debut collection for Helmut Lang will be for fall 2018.
Jens Riewenherm Departs Mytheresa.com as Managing Director
Managing Director of Mytheresa.com Jens Riewenherm is leaving the company after nearly 6 years holding the position. Previously, Riewenherm worked as Marketing Director at Value Retail. His successor has not been named.
LVMH Appoints Giovanni Zoppas as Thelios CEO
Giovanni Zoppas has been named CEO of LVMH and Marcolin’s new joint venture, Thelios. Zoppas previously served as CEO of Italian eyewear maker Marcolin. Starting in 2018, Thelios will make eyewear for LVMH’s French ready-to-wear brand Céline as their first project. The agreement behind the joint venture states that LVMH will hold 51% of the venture while Marcolin holds the remaining 49%.
Massimo Renon Promoted to Marcolin CEO
Massimo Renon, previously Worldwide Commercial General Manager of Marcolin will now head the company as CEO. Renon succeeds Giovanni Zoppas as he leads new joint venture Thelios.
Steven Newey Steps Down from Harrys of London as CEO
After Harrys of London’s recent acquisition by Charles Cohen, CEO Steven Newey has stepped down. Richard Cohen will lead the company in a temporary advisory role as the company begins their global expansion. Newey had been CEO of Harrys of London for 2 years, previously acting as Group Commercial Director at Mulberry England. Prior to that, Newey held leadership positions at a plethora of brands including Hermès, Alfred Dunhill, and Tommy Hilfiger.
Gianni Pieraccioni Departs Revlon as COO
Chief Operating Officer of Revlon Gianni Pieraccioni has stepped down after 2 years with the company. Previously, Pieraccioni was EVP and Chief Commercial Officer for Alitalia Compagnia Aerea Italiana SpA. Prior to that, Pieraccioni worked for a multitude of corporations including PepsiCo, Johnson & Johnson, and Procter & Gamble.
Jerry Storch Leaves Hudson Bay as CEO
CEO of Hudson Bay Jerry Storch is stepping down after 2 years with the company. Before his time at Hudson Bay, Storch was Chairman and CEO of Toys R Us for 7 years. Prior to that, he was Vice Chairman of Target. Storch is also CEO and Founder of his own senior management firm, Storch Consulting which started in 2013. Executive Chairman of Hudson Bay Richard Baker will act as interim CEO while the company looks for Storch’s successor.
Michael Appel Joins Rue 21 as Interim CEO
Rue 21 has found their interim CEO in Michael Appel. Appel is the Founder and President of restructuring business consultancy Appel Associates. Appel previously served as Chairman of Loehmann’s and had stints as interim CEO of Wilkes Bashford and Baccarat.
Tom Athron Departs John Lewis as Group Development Director
Effective spring 2018, Tom Athron will step down from his position as Group Development Director of British department store company the John Lewis Partnership. He leaves after 2 years as Group Development Director but also worked at John Lewis previously from 2005-2009 as Head of Group Financial Strategy and Buying Director.
Lucia Dumas, previously VP of Communication at Essilor, is now EVP, Communication and Public Affairs at L’Oréal.
Kelsey Breining, previously Senior Account Executive at Paul Wilmot Communications, is now Director, Designer Relations at IMG.

Marie Claire has found their new Creative Director in Kate Lanphear, succeeding Nina Garcia after her move to Elle. Lanphear joins from Google where she worked on fashion-centered projects for the tech giant. Prior to that, Lanphear was Editor-in-Chief of Maxim, and before that she also worked at Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.
Hari Nef Named Love Magazine Contributing Editor
Love Magazine has tapped transgender actress, writer and model Hari Nef as a new Contributing Editor starting on their 19th issue. Being the first transgender model signed by a major global agency, Nef has previously worked with Love as a cover star on their #LoveMe17 issue.

Mass media giant Hearst has purchased Rodale Inc. for an unspecified amount. Rodale publishes Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World and Bicycling, and Rodale’s Organic Life. It’s believed that Time Inc. will consolidate some of Rodale’s smaller titles.
