Neal J. Fox Departs Mark Cross as CEO Chief Executive Officer of Mark Cross, Neal J. Fox, is stepping down from the company. Cross first took on the role of CEO in 2011, when his business partner and previous head of the company, JP Wilkin Jr., passed away. Since then he has repositioned Mark Cross as an American heritage brand. Fox’s successor at Mark Cross has not yet been named.
Rob DeMartini Steps Down as New Balance’s CEO and President New Balance President and Chief Executive Officer, Rob DeMartini, is departing the brand after 11 years with the company. Apart from his role at New Balance, DeMartini also sits on multiple Boards of Directors at companies like Welch’s, KaBOOM!, Advanced Functional Fabrics of America, and was Chairman of the Board for the American Apparel and Footwear Association. Prior to joining New Balance in 2007, DeMartini was Group VP of Consumer Products at Tyson Foods. Before that, he was at The Gillette Company for 22 years, most recently holding the position of SVP of Commercial Operations.
New Balance Names Joe Preston as CEO and President Effective December 31st, Joe Preston will be succeeding Rob DeMartini as Chief Executive Officer and President of New Balance. Preston joined New Balance 23 years ago in 1995 as Senior Product Manager but most recently served as the brand’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Jeff Kantor Retires from Macy’s as CMO Macy’s Chief Merchandising Officer, Jeff Kantor, is retiring after 36 years with the company. Prior to being promoted to CMO last year, Kantor was the Chief Stores and Human Resources Officer. Before that, Kantor was Chairman of macys.com, and prior to that, he was President of Merchandising for Macy’s home collection.
John Ermatinger Retires from True Religion as CEO Chief Executive Officer of True Religion, John Ermatinger, is retiring from the company. Ermatinger first joined True Religion in 2015, joining from Tommy Hilfiger where he was CEO for the Asia-Pacific Region. Prior to that, he was President of Gap’s Asia-Pacific Region and held the same post at Nike before that. Prior to Nike, Ermatinger was at Levi & Strauss for almost 30 years. Former American Apparel CEO Chelsea Grayson will be serving as Interim CEO of True Religion as the brand looks for Ermatinger’s successor.
Avon Taps James Thompson as Chief Beauty and Brand Officer James Thompson has been named the new Chief Beauty and Brand Officer at Avon. Previously, Thompson was at spirits producer Diageo where he was Chief Marketing and Innovation Officer for their North American operations. In his new position at Avon, Thompson will be reporting to Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Myers.
Deborah Weinswig Joins Guess Board of Directors Guess has appointed Deborah Weinswig to it’s Board of Directors. Weinswig is the CEO and Founder of Coresight Research, a global intelligence unit that delivers research and insights to their customers. Weinswig also serves on the board for other companies such as Xcel Brands Inc., Kiabi, Dignity U Wear, and GoodXChange.
Laurie Ann Goldman Joins Guess Board of Directors Guess has tapped Laurie Ann Goldman to join its Board of Directors as the Chairman of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Goldman is the former CEO of Spanx and has served on the Board for many other companies including SunTrust, francesca’s, Joe & The Juice, ServiceMaster, and Enviroscent Inc.
Gabby Cohen Joins Rent the Runway as SVP of Communications and Business Development Rent the Runway has tapped Gabby Cohen as the new SVP of Communications and Business Development. Previously, Cohen was SVP of PR and Brand Strategy at SoulCycle where she was responsible for the marketing boom that positioned it as the fitness lifestyle brand it is. Prior to that, she was an Adjunct Professor of Tourism at New York University.
Differential Brands Renamed to Centric, Jason Rabin Tapped as CEO After acquiring a large portion of Global Brands Group Holdings, Differential Brands has restructured and renamed themselves to Centric Brands Inc. Former President of Global Brands Group Holdings’ North American Operations, Jason Rabin, will act as the Chief Executive Officer of Centric. Previously, Rabin was President of LF Asia Limited and prior to that he was President of Kids Headquarters. Rabin also has nonprofit experience as the former Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Director of Delivering Good Inc.
Global Brands Group Appoints Rick Darling as CEO Rick Darling has been named Chief Executive Officer of Global Brands Group. Previously, Darling was Executive Director of LF Americas, Li & Fung Ltd.’s wholesale and distribution business in the US. Prior to that, he was President of LF USA. Darling is succeeding Bruce Rockowitz, who is stepping down as CEO but will stay on as non-executive Vice Chairman.
J.C. Penney Names Michael Fung Interim Chief Financial Officer Michael Fung has been tapped to act as the Interim Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Jean Murray. Previously, Fung was serving as Interim CFO for Neiman Marcus Group and 99 Cents Only Stores. Prior to that, he was SVP and CFO at Walmart for 11 years.

Balmain Returns to Paris Couture Week Balmain is now set to return to Paris Couture Week in January 2019. This is the fashion house’s first couture collection since 2002 when Oscar de la Renta was Creative Director. For the brand’s 2019 show, Olivier Rousteing will be Creative Director.
