Bottega Veneta continues to solidify their foundation for Creative Director Daniel Lee’s vision of the house, opening their biggest Asian flagship in Tokyo’s Ginza district on December 8th.

Encompassing over 8,611 square feet on six floors the stores façade echoes the iconic intrecciato weave, created with over 900 silvery square metal panels with a “lunar” finish. The weave is punctuated with windows and front entrance as if die-cut woven leather.



The sleek structure, inspired by the Japanese capital’s futuristic spirit and modernist architecture, is framed by inclined and folding planes created with “Kyoto white” plaster and classic mineral plaster, nodding to both the local and Italian traditions. The folds and pleats frame the windows and exterior views, and their color changes with the natural movement of sunlight throughout the day.

The clean and linear pattern of the natural oak flooring is inspired by Tamo, a local species of ash tree that produces a rare, precious wood with a distinctive grain. Other materials utilized throughout the store include teppei-seki, a Japanese slate used in architecture in the late Edo period, along with various types of Italian marble such as Persian Red travertine that are signature to Bottega Veneta. Display tables are made with hammered oak that has a unique honeycomb texture, a custom finish inspired by traditional Japanese workmanship.



The store is decorated with the Bottega Veneta Furniture collection; the Tassello and Rudi seating families are made in a palette exclusive to the Tokyo flagship which provides an interesting contrast against the pale-hued, minimalist store. The décor also features a selection of iconic Italian furnishings, such as Gio Ponti chairs and Sesann armchairs, originally designed by Gianfranco Frattini. All the seating is placed throughout the store to encourage a relaxed and comfortable ambience.

Men’s leather goods and shoes will be housed on the lower level. The ground floor will feature women’s leather goods and eyewear. On the second floor will be a women’s shoe salon and a dedicated space for women’s precious bags and the personalization services. The third floor will feature women’s ready-to-wear and more shoes, while on the fourth floor will be men’s ready-to-wear and precious styles. The fifth floor will be reserved for private appointments.
