Store Scout, Brett Johnson SoHo Flagship
BY STEPHANIE PETTWAY
Brett Johnson makes himself more at home in New York’s SoHo, by opening his first retail store. The two floors, 2,800-square foot space on 109 Mercer Street will hold the brand’s offices and will have 1,600-square feet of selling space for the 4-year-old brand.
“We are thrilled to have found precisely the right location. Mercer Street has everything I was looking for aesthetically – visibility, foot traffic, and even the charm of the cobblestone streets has the right feel for the brand. We chose SoHo because we have a number of e-commerce customers in the area. It just made sense,” said Creative Director, Brett Johnson.
The interior of the store, designed by Johnson, Sarah Mullins, and Pamela Levine features a color scheme of the brands muted earthy tones of brown and grey, with occasional pops of color. The walls are painted in the color Baja Dunes and the floors are a soft white marble.
There will also be a VIP lounge for made-to-measure clients that comes complete with top shelf spirits. The store opening will also be the introduction of accessories to the brand starting with luxury scarves made of silk, wool, and cashmere. Uniquely designed furniture pieces, designed by Johnson and James Opdahl, will also be available through custom order.
