To capitalize on their weight at the Cannes Film Festival, Chanel created a film heavy on celebrity and cinematic touches.
The festival ,which previewed 20 films from prestigious directors, included Chanel it-girl Kristen Stewart, who served as a jury member for the festival which honors the top prize, the Palme d’Or or the “Palm Tree”.
Integrated into the experience is none other than Karl Lagerfeld himself. He’s seen taking photographs with Stewart and Penélope Cruz at the festival with his famous sunglasses on. The film opens up with house ambassador, Kristen Stewart, mentioning how much the Cannes Film festival means to her.
The film is a peek behind the scenes at the red carpet as celebs are in the Chanel Suite getting ready, and picking out the jewelry to wear. The ambassadors, Kristen Stewart, Anna Mouglalis, Penélope Cruz, Vanessa Paradis, Golshifteh Farahani and Chloë Sévigny all sport Chanel on the red carpet.
From showing them stepping out of cars onto the carpet to panning around, we get a view of the reality on the carpet. It quickly changes using different music for the night scenes. Showing the difference from the red carpet in the day to night. Ending it with a large goodbye of waves from the cast that Vanessa Paradis was in.
The film was wise of Chanel as it gave a glimpse into the mechanics behind the glamour and endeared Chanel not just to the participating celebs, but the consumer themselves.
