Review of Commas Fall 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Richard Jarman and Photographer James Giles with models Noel Kurong and Tissa Fernando
Commas shares a new campaign for Fall 2021 that slows things down to enjoy the quiet beauty of the natural world. The Sydney-based brand headed to the other side of the continent to shoot the campaign along a road trip through the Kimberley region of Wester Australia, including stops at the pearling town of Broome and the indigenous-owned nature camp Kooljaman.
This collection is all about a slower pace and the freedom of exploring with time on your side. Since being grounded here in Australia I’ve had a lot more time to explore my own backyard, and I’m feeling more inspired than ever.
– Richard Jarman, Commas creative director
Captured in both color and black and white, Giles’ photographs are primarily focused on the rugged and serene beauty of the landscape: wind-sculpted cliffs and wave-lapped beaches. Against this backdrop, the bodies of the models and the soft, airy silhouettes of the collection feel especially beautiful. The adventurous approach is a great way to capture Commas loving and unique commitment to swim and resortwear for men.
With beautiful photographs that emphasize the feeling of strength and freedom in Commas’ designs, the campaign is a lovely little ode to slow travel.
