Pitti Immagine has announced that Craig Green is to be the Menswear Guest Designer at Pitti Uomo 94, joining past guest designers as Humberto Leon and Carol Lim for Kenzo, Jun Takahashi of Undercover, Off-White’s Virgil Abloh, Tim Coppens, Gosha Rubchinskiy, and Junichi Abe of Kolor among others. He will present his Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

The London-born designer launched his eponymous brand in 2012 after graduating the Fashion Masters course at Central Saint Martins. Green is one of many young, highly regarded fashion designers coming out of London for his unconventional and refreshing take on workwear and utility.

“Craig Green’s collection reveals many of the critical success factors for those who make fashion today, specifically his ability to innovate menswear “codes” – even radically – without losing track of the contemporary market’s dynamics,” said Lapo Cianchi, Director of Communications & Events for Pitti Immagine.

Green has won several fashion design awards since establishing his namesake label, including the Emerging Menswear Designer Award at the British Fashion Awards in 2014, the British Fashion Council/GQ Designer Menswear Fund prize in 2016, and the British Menswear Designer Award at the Fashion Awards 2016 and 2017.

His designs have been featured in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ exhibit in 2015, will be featured in The Met’s 2018 exhibit ‘HEAVENLY BODIES: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination,’ and he created costumes for ‘Alien: Covenant’ in 2017 among other projects.

“We have been monitoring the development of his style, which mixes workwear influences with futuristic shapes and sculptural silhouettes with function,” said Cianchi. “We are thrilled to have Craig Green at Pitti Uomo so that he can show us the modern elegance of his vision in a spectacular event.”

Green added, “I’m honoured to be invited to show my collection as the guest designer of Pitti Immagine Uomo 94, joining the incredible list of designers who have participated previously.”

Prior to this announcement, Moncler unveiled a collaboration with Craig Green as part of the Moncler Genius project.
