Review of Daily Paper Spring 2021 Resort Ad Campaign by Creative Director Florian Joahn with Photographer Mounir Raji
Daily Paper gears up for summer with a new collection and campaign that celebrate the brand’s heritage in African diaspora culture. The campaign was led by creative director Florian Joahn, who has worked frequently with the brand in the past, with photography by Mounir Raji.
Ready for the warmer months ahead, the new resort collection is composed mostly of light and casual unisex offerings in a range of colors. The collection introduces three new tie-dye colorways drawn from the colors of the Somali, Ghanaian, and Moroccan flags, representing the heritage of the brand’s three founders.
Joahn’s and Raji’s celebratory campaign imagery highlights the laid-back energy of the pieces. Framed by the beach and the sky, the youthful cast bask in sunlight and exude a sense of effortless cool. Smart use of the flags referenced in the designs emphasizes the ongoing exploration of heritage and culture. Though casual, Raji’s images attest to thoughtful photographic composition.
With a casual energy perfect for summer and thoughtful consideration of what makes Daily Paper’s identity unique and important, the campaign is another strong success for the brand.
