Review of Diane von Fürstenberg X H&M Home Spring 2021 Ad Campaign by Creative Director Donald Schneider Studio, Portraits Photographer Paola Kudacki, and Product Stills Photographer Anders Kylberg
Diane von Fürstenberg and H&M Home celebrate their new collaborative collection with a bright and uplifting campaign, featuring creative direction from Donald Schneider Studio.
Best known for creation of the wrap dress but most beloved for her singular personality and inspiring leadership, von Fürstenberg’s joie-de-vivre is at the heart of the collection and its campaign. She illuminates elegant and cozy home decor staples with her creative, colorful approach to pattern. The collection draws print inspirations from the natural world, but sees them through a pop-art lens.
In addition to highlighting the visual exuberance of the collection, the campaign is also a lovely ode to DVF herself. Paola Kudacki’s black-and-white portraits capture the designer in moments full of joy and character. In the short film, von Fürstenberg shares wisdom on the importance of self-reflection for personal style and personal growth. “You own your imperfections,” she muses, “they become your assets. You own your vulnerability, it becomes your strength. The more honest you are, the more you find your own style.”
Matching joyful colors and patterns with joyful words of wisdom, the campaign inspires us to be as bold as DVF’s prints – or even DVF herself.
