Dior | heads to Mykonos for summer capsule collection
Dior is in vacation mode just ahead of their upcoming resort collection showing this Friday. The French fashion house is setting sail to Greece to open a pop up shop in Mykonos on June 15 and launch a summer capsule collection inspired by the scenic island.
The pop up is slated to remain through October 15 and will carry the Dior Fall/Winter 2018 collection, launching globally in July. The star of the pop up, the summer capsule collection is comprised of knit and silk pieces designed by Artistic Director Maria Grazia Chiuri.
Striped bodysuits and cashmere sweaters feature the phrase “J’adior Mykonos” and are complimented by silk twill mitzah scarves, cotton stoles, the Dior Book Tote, which is embroidered with the name of the island, and accessories such as bracelets, sandals and ballerina pumps woven with “Christian Dior Mykonos”.
In addition, a Dioraddict bag that can be accessorized with a choice of five straps, four oblique zipped pouches, two Diorclub1 visors, two baseball caps and berets will be unveiled at the boutique.
Though Mykonos and the Cycladic Islands of Greece are a trendy tourist destination now thanks to social media, Dior heads to the island for more nostalgic reasons. Monsieur Dior lived on the island in the 50s, so the collection is more of homage and the pop up is more of a trip home.
