Leave it to Dan and Dean Caten and their romantic warriors from the duo’s Spring 2019 collection to remind us how much we love large group shots as ad campaigns.
The campaign, lensed by Mert and Marcus and art directed by Giovanni Bianco and his team at GB65, is beautifully colored, drawing in the viewer as the cast is perfectly placed in each shot. We say this to remind everyone that this is not anywhere as easy as it looks. The casting, coloring, tone, and energy of large group shots are hard to pull off without coming across as uninteresting knock-offs of old Benetton ads.
Stylist Panos Yiapanis helped get some skin in the game by leveraging the legs of models Birgit Kos and Irina Shayk who join topless models Barak Shamir, Deano Perona, Elliot Meeten, Janusz Kuhlmann, Jordan Genidogan, Martijn Faaij, Paulo Spencer, Tommy Hackett, and William Los.
And while it may seem an odd choice of word to accompany a fashion campaign, the clothes really help here. The collection is interesting to the eye, upbeat, and a great unifier.
Which is what this story is all about. A unified group of like-minded souls ready to face the challenges of today as an upbeat army of romantics. Here is to their peace march.
