BY GILLIAN CASTRO
During Pitti Uomo 94, on June 12-15th 2018, The Exhibition “EVOLUTION-INVOLUTION-REVOLUTION: Three Decades of Men’s Fashion as Seen by Stefano Pilati” will be inaugurated at Palazzo Pitti.
The creator and curator of this project is Stafano Pilati. “EVOLUTION-INVOLUTION-REVOLUTION” is a personal reflection on contemporary fashion, it is based on first-hand experience through flashbacks, impressions, collaborations, and rejections. The goal of this exhibition is to immerse the visitor in the multifaceted reality of men’s fashion over the last three decades.
“For this project on men’s fashion, a theme that has long been overlooked in Italian and international cultural circles, we thought of Stefano Pilati because he was and is one of the leading protagonists this sphere,” says Lapo Cianchi, Secretary General of Fondazione Pitti Immagine Discovery. “But perhaps most importantly, we found his concept of the fashion system to be fascinating – it is eccentric, conflicting, and almost cynical. It’s a precise point of view where the obsessions and reflections of a collector merge with those of a designer and an individual who believes in dressing well.”
This project is the third event of a three-year exhibition promoted by the Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italian and the Gallerie degil Uffizi together with the participation of Pitti Immagine. The exhibition will run until October 21, 2018 in Palazzo Pitti’s Museo degil Argenti.
