Fendi Launches Chinese Valentine’s Day Campaign with Jackson Wang
Fendi has launched a special Capsule Collection in celebration of Chinese Valentine’s Day, in collaboration with London artist and illustrator Sam Cox aka Mr. Doodle, and Jackson Wang of the K-pop boy group Got7. Wang, a rapper, singer and dancer who was born in Hong Kong and is now based in South Korea, is featured in photographs and a short film with key pieces from the collection, which will coincide with Chinese Valentine’s day that this year is on August 25, falling on the 7th day of the 7th Chinese lunar month.
Fendi and Mr. Doodle collaborated previously in 2019 when he took over the rooftop of Fendi Headquarter’s Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana and covered it – as well as giant mirrored letters that spelled out Fendi, Roma, and “FF” which is Fendi’s double F logo – in black and white squiggles with a special twist, an accent of Fendi yellow. For 2020 Fendi and Mr. Doodle have created this cross-category Capsule Collection that spans both genders and includes Women’s and Men’s leather goods, Ready to Wear and shoes Capsule Collection will launch end July 2020 in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Hangzhou, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Nanjing, Shenyang, Hong Kong and Taipei together with Singapore, Sydney, Bangkok, Costa Mesa, and Vancouver.
Continuing an artistic process and aesthetic pioneered by Keith Haring in New York City in the 1980s, Mr. Doodle creates his artwork by drawing with markers in a never-ending stream, and as he doodles, he designs characters and connects all the drawings together to create patterns; predominantly working in black and white, Mr. Doodle has also included touches of yellow featuring the Fendi and FF logos, and the iconic Fendi color trademark and hearts in the symbolic red color.
A pre-launch of the Capsule Collection will be available starting July 24th 2020 on Fendi’s website, and will be available from end Julyat select Fendi boutiques in the cities mentioned above.
