Since her appointment to the House of Givenchy in 2017, Clare Waight Keller continues to take her audience on a journey to experience a fashion both indefinite and dreamy. The characters of this Fall 2019 Givenchy Preview fashions pictorial references to Icarus’s story and feminine silhouettes juxtaposed with sharp menswear forms as they glide through the museum home of Le Corbusier: Villa la Roche
On this adventure, time and space become irrelevant. Models engage with a metronome, crystal ball and life-sized key – allusions into a surrealist realm. Here the details of a collection, accessories— fanny packs, eyewear and cocktail rings —prints and textures come alive. Complementing the storytelling is the music featured in the campaign. To the beat of a jazzy piano, static buzz and muffled conversation, a tempo inspires an uncomfortable feeling that leaves us to anticipate all that is in store upon the collection’s April 2019 release. Not only is Givenchy fantastical; it is also taking fashion into ventured territory.
