Kate Spade New York Foundation Donates to Crisis Text Line

On the heels of parent company Tapestry committing $2M to provide relief to small businesses in New York City affected by COVID-19, the Kate Spade New York Foundation is donating $100,000 to their longtime partner Crisis Text Line.

The donation will fund a program to provide targeted mental health support to doctors and nurses who are feeling the immediate, and ongoing, effects of the heavy stress as they face the coronavirus crisis head-on. While direct aid in the form of medical equipment and financial support for hospitals is critical right now, equally as important, but often overlooked, is the human needs that medical professionals have. They are partnering with the Crisis Text Line to provide crisis counseling and emotional support for doctors and nurses.

To augment the program, Kate Spade New York is encouraging their community to make a donation through the below link and share the attached badge on Instagram to encourage communities to make their own contribution. There is also an opportunity for individuals to volunteer their time through a 2-week training program that will qualify them to offer counseling services through Crisis Text Line.

In addition, Kate Spade New York is taking to help those affected by COVID-19 by

  • Committing an additional $100,000 to ten existing grantees (who will receive $10,000 each) to provide short term emergency funding needs inclusive of technology needs, virtual programming adaptation, covering missed revenue and emergency needs of each nonprofit.
  • Launching a Virtual Volunteering program for Kate Spade New York corporate and field teams. Partnering with a wide variety of organizations, including Crisis Text Line, Pursuit, American Red Cross, United Nations, Catchafire and UPchieve Virtual Tutoring, to provide Kate Spade employees with an opportunity to volunteer their time.
  • Kate Spade is also dedicated to supporting the mental wellbeing of their internal teams. Through their internal Mind Body Soul program, Kate Spade hosts weekly meditations from their corporate offices. These meditations have shifted to virtual, and are hosted twice per week with corporate and field associates.
