Maison Margiela And Reebok Launch Classic Leather Tabi
Fashion Meets Functionality In This Collaboration’s Take On Two Timeless Designs
33 years after Maison Margiela created the Tabi, and 38 years after Reebok developed the formidable running shoe, the Classic Leather, the two brands have come together for a collaboration and created the Classic Leather Tabi!
Drawing on codes established by Maison Margiela creative director John Galliano, the sneaker expresses the characteristics of the French fashion house through one of Reeboks most recognizable designs. This, the latest chapter in the collaboration first launched in early 2020 is a new style that displays the coming together of two iconic styles. Unifying innovation with nostalgia, fashion meets functionality in a contemporary design with a timeless appeal.
For the collaboration, the Classic Leather was entirely rebuilt to accommodate the Tabi split-toe. The style is created in nappa leather with an EVA sole. It is made in hand-painted white coating on a black leather base – the signature ‘Bianchetto’ technique of Maison Margiela, which purposely chips with wear.
The shoe will be available starting on January 30th on both the Maison Margiela and Reebok websites.
