The house of Marc Jacobs takes a twisted yet talented turn in their Fall 2018 ad campaign. Complete with intimidating Rottweiler dogs and loud unnerving sound effects, the company chose to display their newest collection as an analogy to the role of powerful women today.
Creative Director Marc Jacobs, along with photographer Steven Meisel, capture models Anya Lyagoshina, Hannah Shakespeare, Nika Cole, Remington Williams, Rianne Van Rompaey, Sara Soric, Sarah Abney, Songhwa Oh, and Veronika Vilim each commanding respect of unruly beast. Rottweilers, a favorite of the late great photographer Helmut Newton, are no stranger to fashion photography, often shown as the favorite dog of Amazonian archetypes. Here Meisel steers his lens to the tension in the lease as the dogs pull on their owners in a struggle to control the world around them. These are powerful women with oversized shoulders sporting protective coats of fashion amour as they rule the wild around them.
Overall, the campaign is memorable as well as very pleasing to the eye. The Impression applauds the house for their creativity, and is excited to see more success in the future, with or without the dogs!
